JBG- Part Time Payroll Accountant

Johnson's Backyard Garden is growing quickly and seeking a payroll accountant for our farm. Qualified applicants should be detail oriented and have some previous experience in accounting. This position reports directly to the farm’s head accountant, and works closely with farm administrators.

Our Story

JBG offers the community high quality, locally grown, and organic vegetables. In just 10 years, the farm went from a 30x50ft garden in an urban backyard in East Austin to a now 205-acre organic vegetable farm based on a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model.  Our CSA has now grown to more than 1,700 members in four major metropolises and we provide fresh, year-round, organic produce to CSA members, multiple farmers markets, local restaurants and grocery retailers, including major chains like Whole Foods and HEB/Central Market.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll for both salaried and hourly employees
  • Prepare payroll processing related paperwork for all new employees
  • Work with ADP to ensure accuracy in workforce rate revisions
  • Reconcile and document all expenditures and accounts receivable in QuickBooks
  • Manage all employee health insurance enrollment and withdrawals
Qualifications
  • Some experience in finance and accounting, Certified Payroll Professional preferred
  • Experience with ADP or similar payroll systems
  • Solid understanding of payroll processes, systems, and best practices
  • MS office and computer skills proficiency required
  • Experience with QuickBooks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills
Compensation dependent on experience.  This position is part-time.
